Poem
Declarations of love clouded into the sky,
All the best jewels that money can buy,
First class flights in the middle of the day,
Five-star hotels with breakfast buffets,
Homes with swimming pools and private gyms,
A wedding with doves and diamond rings,
Slow dancing with you on marble floors,
Plus-oning with you at big awards.
All that’s great, and I’d do it too,
But that’s not at all what I crave with you.
With you, I crave the everyday,
Not flashy scenes and grand displays.
With my celebrity crush, I’d want nothing less,
But with you, I want laundry and normalness.
I want making eggs and burning toast,
I want morning walks to get the post.
I want grocery shopping while holding hands,
Fighting about our favorite brands.
I want cuddling on sofas and movie nights,
Deep conversations with turned off lights.
I want the petty fights and heart-to-hearts,
I wanna see you cry and hear your farts,
I want your good mornings and goodbye kisses,
I want doing taxes and washing dishes.
I crave you as you are, on a regular day,
Cuz that’s the real you, and you’re who I crave.
@lenaalyaan “I Crave the Little Things” is about the weird feeling where all you really want with someone is the banal, and the banal suddenly becomes enchanting and wonderful thing. #poem #spokenword #lovepoem #originalpoem #poetsoftiktok ♬ original sound - Lena Alyaan
