Friend at My Fingertips
So what are your most favorite apps?
What icon earns your most ardent taps?
Tik Tok, in all its short-form glories?
Or maybe Instagram’s posts and stories?
Perhaps you like apps to shop or play,
Or maybe the ones that show you the way.
But my favorite app is none of that.
Cuz my one true love is the dear Notes app.
It’s the place that holds all my deepest thoughts,
If I need to rant, it’s where I take my shots,
Where I draft texts and emails and so much more,
Where I list things to buy from the grocery store.
Holds ideas for books I will never write,
Or curses on people I could never fight,
Lyrics of a song I heard in the mall,
The numbers of people I still need to call,
Reminders of things to pack for a trip,
Fanfiction around two people I ship,
Recommended restaurants I’ve yet to try.
An outlet to let out steam when I cry.
Questions for suitor interrogations,
Plans for handling confrontations.
When I need a reminder, it’s at my beck and call.
And I can step all over it with no judgement at all.
It is my truest friend indeed,
Hears me out whenever I need.
Knows all of my secrets and never tells a soul,
Makes me feel good and in control.
So thank you, Notes app, for all that you bore.
